So Sad

Posted by

This has nothing to do about stinger suits but it’s been a week, and this horror is still playing on my mind. On March 22nd London was sadly thrust onto the world stage by yet another terrorist attack.

Apparently, this so called ‘lone wolf’ attack lasted just 82 seconds before the perpetrator was shot dead. Leaving a trail of innocent victims in his wake this crazed individual has left 4 people dead and 50 others injured, some quite severely.

In the immediate aftermath of such a terrible event it was heartening to see brave civilians throw caution to the wind and help emergency response personnel tend to the wounded. For my mind, it seems to me that whenever something appalling like this happens, it tends to galvanize the local and world communities resolve to never give in to these radicalized extremists.

In fact, the mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, himself a Muslim said, “Those evil and twisted individuals who try to destroy our shared way of life will never succeed and we condemn them…London is a great city, full of amazing people from all backgrounds. And when Londoners face adversity we always pull together.”

To further emphasize this point, the following day the Prime Minister Theresa May said to parliament, “Yesterday an act of terrorism tried to silence our democracy, but today we meet as normal, as generations have done before us and as future generations will continue to do, to deliver a simple message: We are not afraid and our resolve will never waver in the face of terrorism.”

Like most rational thinking people our heartfelt sympathy goes out to all those affected by this tragic and senseless event. Victims, families, friends, emergency workers and passersby who witnessed it, our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

The goal is still for world peace, acceptance of cultures and the end to violence. Let’s never give up on that dream.
