Stinger suit Autumn

Posted by

Down here in Australia, with the arrival of March, we’ve shifted from summer to autumn and although for some that may mean less beach time, it certainly doesn’t mean less stinger suit time.

Seasonal change happens 4 times throughout the year and is marked by changes in the weather, hours of daylight and in the way organisms relate to one another and their surroundings.

Here we are losing daylight hours and those 40+ days have gone (thankfully!) leaving us with cooler, more hospitable temperatures. However that relentlessly damaging UV is still a factor that must be dealt with.

Climate change now means It has become a year-round proposition protecting one’s skin.

For those of you living in the northern hemisphere the “ice-cream headache” bone numbing cold of winter is finally retreating and spring has, or will arrive shortly in all its glory.

What a lovely time of year as your favorite bulbs burst into flower, songbirds sing melodically in search of a mate and you meticulously plan your much-anticipated summer vacation.

Aside from the above-mentioned, I believe a new season can also bring with it a change in ideas, a spring clean of old ways if you will, an opportunity to embrace new concepts and plan for the future.

For my mind it doesn’t matter what season you are entering nor what fabulous activities await, it’s time to plan on wearing a UPF 50+ stinger suit to protect your skin, that expensive body art, or help ward off marine stingers. After all, my plan is to look after myself as best as I can. What’s your plan?

Surfest & Stinger Suits

Recently we were doing a stinger suit photo shoot on one of our local beaches and once more it struck me how extremely lucky I am to live where I do. It was yet another glorious picture perfect blue sky day and although quite warm, the beaches were not in any way what one would call “crowded”.One of our models [...]

The night before Christmas

'Twas the night before Christmas and all water lovers Were thinking of the prezzies they were giving to others. The stockings were hung by the chimney with care But how could a new board ever fit there? The divers & boarders were all snug in their beds While visions of @exoticwaterwear danced in their heads. The kayakers & canoeists had sweet dreams that were legal The divers were Nemos [...]

Stinger suits & Microplastics part 2

The week before last, our stinger suit fashion took a back seat to the alarming issue surrounding microplastics. It’s quickly becoming a global marine disaster and things called ocean gyres are assisting in its accumulating into something researchers call ‘garbage patches’.So what’s a gyre? Neil thought it was an exotic cheese to try, silly boy! A gyre, for the [...]

They're Back!

They’re Back! Here in Australia, as we leave the chilly grip of winter and embrace the warmer spring season, stinger suit orders increase and Neil ‘cracks the shits” over the magpies. All this fuss over a bird may come as a surprise to you in the northern hemisphere, however the Australian Magpie is a wee bit different.A most highly regarded [...]

Dump the Olympics?

When I heard the Rio Olympics were on, I contemplated how I could place an Exotic Waterwear stinger suit into the action however, after hearing the myriad of troubles that plagued the games, I’m glad I couldn’t. Everything from the massive budget over runs (typical it seems of most Olympics), unfathomable corruption, traffic chaos, water pollution, green colored water in [...]
